I bagged a P-Dog in Western Kansas at 1020 yards, confirmed it with my Garmin. The gun is a Rem 700 VLS chambered in 243, shooting 105grn A-Max, with a VX-3 8.5x25x50 Leupold on top. Congrats to everyone on their great shots!

Thanks,
Matt

Using an Ar-15 in 223, 55 grain Nosler bt.  my son made a 875 pace shot on a p.dog last year.  It took him 2 shots to get dialed in, the third sent him to the pasture in the sky.  We could not laser the truck with an 800 yard range finder.
I suspect it was close to 875 yards as he is 6 ft. 4 inches tall.

Seems fitting that on Groundhog Day I am making this submission. In the 1980s had permission to shoot g`hogs on a golf course in a very rural part of southern Ontario. They were turning the fairways into obstacle courses. Went in at dawn and shot for an hour before the members showed up.

One shot was on an elevated tee down a par 5 fairway so I knew the exact distance. Shot prone with a sling. Nailed the little fur ball at 430 yards. May not be as long a yardage as the previous submissions but probably more realistic for the average shooter.

Used a Ruger 77 heavy barrel in .220 Swift. Load was Herters 104 (remember that) with a Sierra 50 spbt. Incredibly accurate load. Beauty cartridge. Just bought another Swift in a Rem 700 VS SF. Beauty rifle.

Not first shot connections, if thaat is the intention of the thread.  The first pd was taken in less than a dozen shots though ;D
Longest Kill  1590 yards.  6-284 Center-grip XP-100, Broughton 5C, 115 DTACS.

Longest Hit on a pd - 1800 yards (we didn't drag the dog out of the hole, but sscoyote reached in with his hand to see but couldn't go far enough.  You can see the blood, but that's it.
Rear-grip XP-100 6.5-284 McMillan stock, Jewell trigger, Krieger 1-8 twist barrel, 140 grain A-Max

I live in the wrong state  :( I just got into long range varmint shooting.Where Im at it is hard to get an area where I can shoot 500 yards. Hell I get excited when I see a critter out past 300. That being said, Last summer I killed a gray digger at 535 yards. Rem. Model 700 VS chambered in .243 AI topped with a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50. 75 grain Hornady V-Max

This year I will get to stretch it out, We have a Rockchuck and sage rat hunt planned for this spring.

Hi Luhrs, you must shoot in Wyoming.  Wide-open ranges where five-hundred yards is a stone's throw.  The Red Desert is unpopulated for many hundreds of miles.  Wyoming will welcome your tourist dollar.  Wyoming has less human population than most big cities elsewhere.  Pronghorn antelope out-number people in WY.  "Not to mention" prairie dogs.  Cliffy

Hi RichG, no, I would never laugh at honest attempts at long range PRACTICE.  It can be done, but not by "hunters" who practice once-a-year before the "big hunt." I work at "the" range to assist hunters to sight-in before hunting season.  From driving long divots in the grass twenty-five yards in front of the target to over-shooting by four feet at 100 yards, I've seen it all.  Even after I click them in to hit paper at 100 yards, I think "where were you all year?"  Yet, they are smart enough to seek our experience, and most probably earn ten-times my pultry income.  Cliffy

A friend and former WY resident are trying to get together a pronghorn hunt over there.  It will be a DIY hunt.

Friday evening I got my longest song dog kill. 370 yards with the AI. The stupid thing hung up and wouldnt get closer. He made the mistake of sitting long enough to get him ranged and and shot. Those 75 Gr V-Max's put the song dogs down in a hurry. Not real fur friendly though. ;D

I shot a military drone at 15 miles once with a Nike Ajax missle.

Does that count?
