Reloader17 in 6BRX and 6.5X47 Lapua
« on: 05:42 AM, 11/02/09 »
I am having a 6.5X47 Lapua built and also have a 6BRX.

In the BRX I want to shoot 105 - 115 gr. bullets.
In the 6.5X47 Lapua I want to shoot 130-140 gr. bullets.

Has anyone tried Reloader17 in this calibers?  I was wondering if it would work good in this size case, and if anyone has tried it I would like to hear about accuracy and speed potential with this powder.

Thank you,

X3M

I've had good results using RL-17 in 6brx with 117dtac. Accuracy was great and velocity ranged around 2950-3000.

Start about 39.0 of R17 with a 6.5x47 and the 130-140gn bullets.  Speeds will be 50-150fps more than H4350 at similar apparent pressures...it really does get more velocity...

What about accuracy? with RL17?  What should I expect?

Duke, you can stabilize 115 DTACS with 1:8 twist?  What about Berger 115's?

Thanks guys.

Question, with the bigger bullet (115/ 117gr.) going slower, do you get better wind deflection (less) at 1000yds. than with teh 105gr. VLD going faster? Drop is really not important as you can easily dial in for that. My concern is drift. Anyone run the numbers or have real world experince.
If I blow a wind call is using the 115/ 117gr. more forgiving in a 6brx than the 105's going faster?

Haven't shot 115 Burger. A lot of people complain about not stabilizing them in 1-8'' twist.
