Anyone have any load info they can share for RL17 using a 140gr in a 7mm-08?

Tks,

Bill, I am currently using a load of 46Gr's. of RL-17 behind a 140 Gr. Sierra Spbt., using Winchester brass and Russian primers. I haven't chronographed the load yet but according to published data on the Alliant Website, I shoud be running around 2820 to 2860fps. Shoots consistantly around 1/2 inch from a Lilja barrelled Rem700. Barrel length is 21inches. This load is used primarily as a Whitetail Deer load here in Pa. Hope this helps.

P.S.- My long range load with this caliber is 43Gr's. of IMR-4064 behind a 140Gr. Nosler BT using Rem 9 1/2 primers. As always reduce these loads and work back up with your rifle. Hope this helps.

Chuckhunter,

That's a big help.  Thanks for the info.  I've got a 22" barrel using 140gr Accubonds.  Hoping the switch from RL15 to RL17 puts me in the 2800-2900 range.

Tks,
Bill

From the FWIW file,

My Rock barreled 7-08 gives 2950 with H-414 and 140 Accubonds, but my deer load is with 120 Ballistic Tips and H-414 at 3175.

I don't recall any other powder getting the hoopla that R-17 has gotten, but the "old" powders still perform mighty fine.
